Commonly neck soreness and tightness can have many different causes. A very common reason is bad posture. Typically this is from day to day work activities such as sitting at your desk. Sitting with a head forward position can eventually cause neck pain and tightness.

This can be that your head and neck is misaligned while you sleep. When your head and neck fall into misalignment relative to the spine, over time it can cause pain and discomfort in the neck.
