The Pectorals
The Pectoral muscles are made up of two muscles the larger Pectoralis Major which overlies the Pectoralis Minor muscles. Generally they both attach to the upper portion of the ribcage. The Pectoralis Major also has attachments to the upper portion of your upper arm bone. The smaller Pectoralis Minor attaches to the "front part" of your shoulder blade, the Coracoid process.
The Pectoralis Minor muscle elevates the upper ribs and assists with drawing the arms towards the midline from an "arms out" position. The Pectoralis Major is a major actor when it comes to bringing the arms towards the midline, such as in a pec deck exercise. It can also bring the arms back and rotate the upper arm in towards the body.

Pectoral stretch
The pectoral stretch can help alleviate pain and discomfort in the chest and shoulder area. It can also help with pain and discomfort between the shoulder blades. This stretch should be performed comfortably. The sensation you should be feeling is a slight pulling in the chest and shoulders.
The stretch should be held for at least 30 seconds. You should be breathing through the stretch and NEVER have your elbows fully locked. Repeat a couple of times.
This stretch is very useful for office workers who sit in front of their computers, with rounded shoulders in front of their computers.
